I’m a political journalist and writer. I write about the break-up of Britain, class, economics and our looming climate apocalypse. I’ve reported extensively from the UK, Canada, Europe and the US. I also review books.

My bylines include: New Left Review, VICE, Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, the London Review of Books, POLITICO, Jacobin, the New Statesman, the New York Times, Al Jazeera English – and I’m a regular contributor to The Herald, Bella Caledonia and the Sunday National. In 2014, I co-edited Old Nations, Auld Enemies, New Times, a collection of essays by Tom Nairn.

I’ve lived in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Belfast and Vancouver. I’m currently based in Glasgow.
