I’m a political journalist and writer.
I (mostly) write about socialism, populism, the break-up of Britain, and our looming climate apocalypse. I’ve reported extensively from the UK, Canada, Europe, and the US.
In 2014, I co-edited Old Nations, Auld Enemies, New Times, a collection of essays by Tom Nairn.
I grew up in Edinburgh and studied politics at Glasgow University and journalism at Birkbeck, University of London. After that, I lived in Belfast and Vancouver. I am currently back in Britain.
